Despite the fact that room and building acoustics are two different “worlds”, they are closely related. Increasing the quality of the indoor environment requires technical assessment in both above mentioned fields of acoustics.
Room acoustics
- Room acoustics deals with the assessment of the indoor environment and behavior of sound.
- In situ measurements of several acoustic parameters are carried out as basis for the assessment of room acoustics in existing buildings
- Most evaluated parameters are reverberation time, speech intelligibility, acoustic pressure level and, in more acoustically demanding spaces, sound definition and clarity
- Using simulations in acoustic software, situation with acoustic changes implemented is predicted and the most effective solutions are suggested
- The customer will receive an optimized room acoustic design with clearly defined surfaces and materials
- The output is a noise assessment report, a measurement report, drawing documentation and a BIM model
“Room acoustics is present everywhere. By measurements and simulations, it is possible to achieve pleasant acoustic comfort in any space.”
Building acoustics
- Building acoustics deals with sound insulation and sound transmission through the building constructions
- Slovak technical standard STN 73 0532 assesses, among other parameters, above all the airborne and structure borne insulation of structures
- The most frequently assessed details include building facades, dividing walls and ceilings
- As a basis for the analysis and proposal for improving the sound insulation of structures, we perform in-situ measurements of building acoustics
- Mapping of weak acoustic areas and their subsequent assessment with a proposed changes
“Incorrect design of building structures and important construction details have huge impact on the success of the construction approval procedure, reduces the quality of the internal environment and worsens neighborhood relations.”
